Introduction

Evolution. The process of growth and development.

In the last five years, the ExtremeLives project has gone on a journey across six countries, diving into the untold stories of human rights defenders, former extremists, addicts and inmates, gender equality activists, and survivors of conflict, culminating in over 30 hours of watch time online.

Our mission? To expose the driving forces behind violent extremism through emotive, character-driven digital content, while offering viewers actionable alternatives.

In that time, the project has adapted to pandemic restrictions, responded to new developments in research, and integrated fast-emerging digital trends in impact measurement.

To celebrate the five year anniversary of the project, we're taking a moment to reflect on what we've done, where we are now, and what the future has in store for one of the most innovative alternative-narrative projects in Asia.
